Overview

China, an ancient, mysterious and beautiful land, has always appealed to adventurous foreign visitors. As the third largest country in the world occupying an area of 9,600,000 sq km, it has an immense cultural and natural heritage.

A wide variety of terrains and climates shape its numerous natural attractions. Abundant in a variety of resources, plants, animals, and minerals, the land has nurtured countless generations of Chinese people.

Below you will find a typical day in a full discover China Itinerary we created as a "Highlights Tour" of China. This, like all other itineraries, can be altered to suit your requirements.

  • Guided Tour of Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City

    Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world. It has long been a gathering place for locals and visitors alike. In the mornings you can see people of all ages practicing tai chi or ballroom dancing and sometimes even flying kites.

    Although no longer occupied by royalty, the Forbidden City remains a symbol of Chinese aristocracy and the image of Tiananmen, the entrance to the Imperial City, appears on the seal of the People's Republic of China. The Palace Museum is now one of the most important tourist attractions in the world.

  • Lunch at the Red Wall Cafe
    The Red Wall Café is named after the red wall of the Imperial Forbidden City located nearby the Grand Hotel Beijing. Guests can enjoy a comfortable ambience and elegant design with view of the Chang An Avenue and Chang Pu He. The Red Wall Cafe combines Asian atmosphere and European style and offers Oriental dishes and continental specialities.

  • Afternoon visit of the Temple of Heaven
    Ming and Qing Emperors traveled each year from the Forbidden City to the Temple of Heaven on the winter solstice and in the first month of the lunar calendar to worship, offer sacrifices to heaven, and to pray for good harvests. The Temple of Heaven area is even larger than the Forbidden City.
