The Responsible Choice

At Arts and Travel we realise the important role played by the tourism industry as a means of bringing people together and as an efficient tool for redistribution of wealth all over the world.

Our social policy ensures that the people you meet on our tours greatly benefit from our visit and that their home will be treated with respect.

We also know that tourism is one of the main contributors to global warming and for that reason we believe in operating with a strict environmental and social policy that allows our clients to travel in full knowledge that their emissions are not contributing to current problems and that our environmental efficiency is not just a fad but a way of life that we hope our success will help spread the word.

What do we do for the Environment?

All our tours are Carbon free.

Thanks to our working relationship with one of the leaders in the business of carbon offsetting (Blue Ventures) we ensure that all our tour arrangements are not only extremely efficient, but whatever emissions cannot be avoided are completely offset. All our tours are carbon free! We offer a opt-in offset for your flights. If you have not already done so we can arrange for carbon offsetting on your incoming and outgoing travel. Don’t forget that any internal flights that are part of the tour will already be offset by our office.

All staff flights and transfers are offset. We run an incredibly efficient and completely carbon free office and thanks to the miracle of modern communications we allow our staff to work from home if they want to, further cutting on emissions. We only use recycled paper and maintain whatever files possible in electronic format.

We are involved in special projects.

Thanks to our environmental partners, we are regularly involved in the sponsoring of projects approved by the Tourism Industry Carbon Offset Service. We talk to our clients. When on-site and ensure we are being efficient in our hotel stay. Recent data suggests people tend to forget their environmental values when staying in a hotel. We talk to our guests because we know that turning the lights off, or opening the window rather than using the air conditioning unit is for the best!

We talk to our suppliers. We demand the most efficient environmental standards of all our suppliers, whether hotels or transport companies. They are all aware of our policies and are all working on similar policies of their own, instigated partly by projects like ours.

What do we do for society?

Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints.

Its an old one, but still holds very true. Visiting Homes. We often organise special events in private homes, but we also believe that anywhere we go is someone's home, for that reason we always encourage the utmost respect. Social benefits.

Everywhere we go benefits from our visit and at the same time we do too, we learn so much from the cultural aspects of our visit that it installs a deep sense of admiration for other cultures and societies. Local knowledge. We only ever use local guides, only they hold the key to local knowledge.

Local projects. We are always involved in local projects for the community and sometimes it becomes a great addition to our trips, visiting a local community project can be eye-opening and provides a great source of pride for our hosts. Local spending. We encourage the use of all things local, not only for the great social and environmental aspect but also because it is the only way to see and understand the local community
