Overview
In the Ideas Lab we are always looking for ways of improving your travel experience now we try and spice it up with some impromptu meetings. What better way is there than to meet someone with the same interest whilst on holiday and even better on a sailing holiday where the love for the sea, the scenery and the fresh air will probably help provide that perfect moment to make a connection.
We at Arts and Travel realize there is no better way to meet than on a cultural active holiday where you know that at least everyone on the tour has the same interests and surely that has to be an advantage!
Here is a sample day from an itinerary in the sailing for single line, if you re interested send us an email and we will find you a place on the next tour.
Typical Day Itinerary
Morning
- Wake up after a restful sleep aided by the sounds of the sea and enjoy breakfast in the galley where the special views of the Mediterranean will definitely spark your appetite.
Late Morning
- A little time sailing out to sea with the rest of the team.
This is a great opportunity to share a perfect break with someone special on the deck enjoying the views and maybe an early drink whilst you watch for land.
- Arrival at Bonifacio for a walk around the town’s shops or an optional guided tour
Bonifacio is split into two sections. The vieille ville (old town), or la Haute Ville (the Upper city), on the site of a 9th century citadel, is located on a peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Most of the inhabitants reside in the Haute ville, including the town's most famous inhabitant, Marie-José Nat. The harbor below, la marine which is at the end of a fjord-like inlet that provides a natural harbor, is a port for a large number of fishing and tourist boats.
The town's charm and proximity to idyllic beaches makes it a popular tourist destination in the summer, predominantly for residents of mainland France. Bonifacio is also a gateway to the small Isles Lavezzi (Lavezzi Islands), which are the southernmost part of France, and have been designated a marine preserve by the French government.
Lunch
- Lunch in the excellent Stella d’Oro
A very pleasant and attractively-decorated restaurant (exposed beams, olive press and millstone). Bonifacio cuisine and freshly-caught fish.
Afternoon
- Back on the boat and sail towards Porto Vecchio, as always time for a swim!
The city of Porto-Vecchio presents all the advantages of a seaside resort and shows some wonderful aspects that only its natural environment can reveal. Its age-old bastion and beautiful marina makes it a great place to visit. During the last decades a drastic development helped it to overcome its isolation and now Porto-Vecchio appears among the best equipped areas of the island. Porto-Vecchio has thus become the third town of Corsica
Evening
- Cocktails and Dinner in Portovecchio at the super-central "U-Benedettu"
The regional recipes and the fish are the stars of this restaurant situated at the water’s edge.
Overnight
- On Board!
Back on the boat to chat about the day and enjoy each others company with a drink. Stay up and watch the stars or curl up in the crispy white sheets and enjoy the sounds of the sea.
